Editor’s note: The Coffee Party movement posted this on their Facebook page today with the following intro: “Since Planned Parenthood has become ground zero in the fight over the budget, please watch this powerful, viral video. Imagine a reality-based, not an ideology-based, discussion about the budget!” Co-incidentally, showing up on our wall right next to this video was the following status update by our friend Matthew Arnett with KRKC News in King City, California: “Maybe if Republicans read the study on unwanted babies becoming democrats, they will leave the funding to planned parenthood alone and quit holding the budget hostage over stupid petty politics.” Needless to say, we “liked” Arnett’s update. Editor’s note: Most of us of a certain age will remember Daniel Ellsburg, who in 1971 leaked the “Pentagon Papers,” a top-secret Pentagon study of US government decision-making in relation to the Vietnam War, to “The New York” Times and other newspapers. Well, today Mr. Ellsburg is 80 years old and still very much an activist, thank you. In this video, Ellsburg is being handcuffed for protesting, outside the White House, the torture of Bradley Manning who is awaiting trial for allegedly giving government secrets to Wikileaks. Editor’s Note: This video makes a well told powerful statement of truth. Although this video has been avaliable on YouTube since 2009, we feel it needs to go viral. If you’re an old hippie from the sixties, don’t be afraid to shout, “We tried to tell you so!” If you grew up in this post hippie world, don’t be afraid to question why all of this is still going on, even though we tried to warn the world over forty years ago. Wars create jobs. When we have peace people find jobs scarce. I first discovered this several years ago when a man at one of my screenings of Leni Riefenstahl’s film, Triumph of the Will, after hearing me speak, gave me a copy of Jerry Mander’s book, Four Arguments for the Elimination of Television. We first began noticing that the contrails created by jet aircraft were staying in the air for hours about ten years ago. As contrails are basically just water, we thought this odd, but didn’t pay it much mind. Then, several years back, we began hearing reports that these long lasting contrails were being dubbed “chemtrails” by some, who claimed that governments were now dumping chemicals into the atmosphere in an attempt to thwart climate change. This excellent video takes an in depth look at the chemtrail phenomenon… Being baby-boomers who grew up in the 1950s and 60s, we couldn’t resist this way too funny take on Glenn Beck and the rest of the right-wing radio talker crowd. It’s almost enough to make us forget that Disney, in our estimation, is on the wrong side of the culture wars. It’s almost enough to make us yearn for the days when Uncle Walt visited us in our living rooms each and every Sunday night.
